‘Word of God is Stronger than Double-Edged Sword’

Readings: Ex 20:1-17; Mt 13:18-23

“The word of God is meant to be bread for daily use, not a cake for special occasions” this particular forward I received a few days ago and I believe this suits very much for today’s gospel reading.

Word of God is not only to read, but we need to practice it daily. Word of God is stronger than double edged sword, says saint Paul. And we have seen how Jesus the eternal Word uses the word of God to defeat Satan during his temptations. We have also seen in the life of Sts. Ignatius and Augustine how encounter with word of God made them to produce hundred-fold fruits.

Today we celebrate the feast of Joachim and Anne; and they are the best example for perfect parenthood – who through their family life produced best fruit, MARY.

As religious we too are invited to read the word of God, follow the word of God, break the word of God, and more importantly, practice the word of God and produce hundred-fold fruits.
