Ranchi Catholic Church Reaches Out to Harijan Muslims and Adivasi Families

The Catholic Church celebrated the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday. The feast signifies the overflowing overpowering love of God which flows to humanity through the person of Jesus Christ. Christians are called to share this same love with others.

On the occasion of this feast, the Ranchi Archdiocese through its Archbishop, Bishop, priests, seminarians and youth brought relief to over 300 needy families belonging to various sections of society.

The morning began at the Dom Koch Basti with distribution of food kits containing rice, dal, soybeans, grams, masala, salt, haldi and oil to over 50 needy harijan families.

Ranchi Archdiocese Catholic Youth President Kuldip Tirkey explained the significance of the gesture and explained that the relief is provided to all needy persons from the group without considering their caste or creed.

Archbishop Felix Toppo prayed for the safety and well being of the people. The relief then moved on to the Kafur basti near House Kadru where similar food kits were distributed to over 90 families. Archbishop Felix Toppo in his prayer invoked God who is the father of all. Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas seeing the large number of women spoke of the importance of the woman in the society.

Over 160 food packets were distributed near the Church in Murhu to needy Christian and Sarna Adivasi families. Fr. Sushil Toppo, Fr. Phillip Minj, Fr. Mum up Kullu, Fr. Anil Kujur, Fr. Tobias Toppo and the seminarians and youth accompanied Archbishop Felix and Bishop Theodore on this mission. Local Leaders cutting across religious lines proposed and organised the distribution in each place.
