Let Us Not Be Judgmental

The Gospel passage reminds us that, it is only goodness that can overcome evil and only light can remove darkness. Jesus used this dictum to the advantage of all. However, there were people who never tried to understand it really. Many accusations had been levelled against Jesus, that he is from Nazareth, son of David, misleading people, blasphemer, sinner, and has an evil spirit through which he drives out demons.

I can never predict how and when God intervenes in my life. I can be very sure that everything that happens in my life teaches me something either about God’s goodness or about human pride and destruction. If I allow my petty prejudices to overpower me, I may fail to recognize the hand of God in the various events of my life like Pharisees by giving many reasons to defend myself.

Jesus Christ reads the innermost thoughts of our minds and knows the deepest desires of our hearts. He knows where we are coming from and what we do or experience in our hearts. He also knows the pride that blocks our sight to see his good works, the prejudice that blinkers our vision as an obstacle in life, the passion that blur our perspectives.

Therefore, he reminds me that there is no greater blindness than blindness to the truth. If I want to perceive and experience Jesus correctly and clearly I should come out of pride, passion, and prejudices which dominate my life. The moment I have pride, prejudice, and passion in my attitude I sin against the Holy Spirit which will not be forgiven. Let us pray that we may not judge others based on our pride, prejudices, and passion.
