CRI Tinsukia Meeting Deliberates on Peace in Manipur, Safe Migration, School Dropout Crisis, and Digital Addiction

Digboi, Assam: The serene Carmel School campus in Digboi, Assam, played host to the meticulously organised Catholic Religious of India (CRI) Tinsukia Zonal Recollection cum General Body Meeting on September 16, 2023. The day-long event served as a gathering ground for 46 devoted CRI members, namely brothers, priests, and sisters, hailing from diverse parishes within the region.

The day’s meticulously planned schedule was aimed at seamlessly integrating spiritual and organizational pursuits:

The proceedings commenced with a rejuvenating tea session, fostering an ambiance of cordiality. A gracious welcome was extended to all attendees by Sr. Joseline SCCG, at the school’s auditorium creating an atmosphere of unity and harmony. The students of Carmel School, Digboi, enthralled the audience with a captivating prayer dance, invoking profound spiritual sentiments and unwavering devotion.

The apex of the morning session was an intellectually stimulating recollection talk, eloquently delivered by Rev. Fr. Blasius Tete, SDB from Don Bosco Hijuguri, Tinsukia, Assam. He expounded upon the profound significance of the Wedding Feast at Cana, effortlessly captivating the congregation and instilling in them a heightened sense of spirituality especially on: “Mary was there”, “They have no wine”, “Do whatever he tells you”, Mary disappears from the scene after the miracle”

Subsequent to the enlightening discourse, attendees were invited to partake in moments of adoration and confession, facilitating a deepening of their spiritual connections with Lord Jesus who has called them to be priests and religious.

At 11:15 am, a spiritually enriching Holy Mass was celebrated, fostering communion and spiritual renewal among the participants. Fr. Geo K. VC director of Divine Margherita presided over the Holy Eucharist and broke the word of God.

The day’s nourishment extended beyond the spiritual, as a hearty lunch was served at 12:30 pm, cultivating companionship among the diverse assembly of attendees.

The afternoon session, which commenced at 1:30 pm, featured a comprehensive agenda that encapsulated pertinent societal concerns:

  2. Addressing Concerns Related to Peace in Manipur
  3. Safeguarding the Rights of Migrant Workers and Promoting Safe Migration
  4. Mitigating the Crisis of School Dropouts
  5. Combating the Pervasive Issue of Digital Addiction in the society

These pivotal subjects were scrutinized with fervor and unwavering dedication, as participants collaboratively engaged in meaningful discussion and sought effective solutions.

The afternoon continued with a solemn Rosary Procession at 2:45 pm, dedicated to fervent prayers for peace in Manipur. The solemnity of the event resonated with the overarching theme of unity and harmony. As the day’s activities drew to a close, a heartfelt vote of thanks was expressed by Br. Joy Kakkattil CST, followed by a final tea break.

The event culminated at 3:30 pm, with participants bidding adieu, carrying with them a renewed sense of purpose and a steadfast commitment to the causes passionately discussed.
