By Fr. Felix Anthony –

Miao: The students of a village school in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh pledged to go plastic-free to mark the world environment day on 5 May 2018.

The students of Newman School in Neotan village of Changlang district celebrated World Environment Day this year with a pledge to keep the school campus plastic-free, while spreading awareness to promote and protect the environment with the help of a skit by the tenth graders.

“We all have one earth. Our selfishness over the years has caused much harm to the environment, leading to new sicknesses everyday”, said the Principal, Fr. Felix Anthony, prior to leading the students to pledge to make the campus plastic-free.

This is our humble effort to create awareness among the students about caring for the environment, said Michael Ronrang, a student of class 10, leading the skit that highlighted the damage caused by plastic and deforestation. The students and teachers planted saplings all around the campus at the end of the awareness skit.
