Walk in His Light

Preet Anupam Beck csc –
Readings: Is 58: 9c-14; Lk 5:27-32

We have already begun the season of Lent. This season invites us to have metanoia: a transformative change of heart. A satisfactory reformation is expected in our attitudes and
behaviors every day. The first reading of the day invites me to let my light shine in darkness by getting involved in meeting the needs of the people around me. To be effective in this ministry I need to let go my interests and personal agendas.

In the Gospel we see Levi left everything and followed Jesus responding to his call. A dramatic change took place in Levi to receive the light of Jesus and radiate his light to others. The conversion led him to let go everything and bear witness to Jesus.

Levi sets before me a dynamic example in witnessing. I am invited by Jesus to walk in his light to be the light. I know that I am called to make him known to others through my life and believe that he will assist me to live a life bearing witness to him.
