Everyone’s life has a unique purpose, and every unique purpose has a result. Our Christian life has a significant purpose which is to bear witness to Christ and its outcome is perfect discipleship.

God revealed himself through many prophets and judges. For instance, in the first reading, God is conversing with Moses about the disloyalty of Israel. As Moses bears true witness to God and continues to bargain with God to be lenient to Israel, the perfect discipleship comes out when a person emphasizes love for God and his/her people.

This is indicated by Jesus in the today’s gospel. Christ came to bear witness on behalf of God to make us understand the unconditional love and mercy of God just like Moses. So, we bear testimony to Jesus to be his perfect disciples. Our compassion, love, mercy, kindness, and generosity are the key to being true witnesses of Christ. This season of Lent is inviting us to build our trust firmly in the Lord despite whatever adverse situations we experience or temptations we face.
