Trust and Listen to Him

Readings: Jer 20: 10-13; Jn 10: 31-42

In the first reading, we see people plot the fall of Jeremiah; even his close friends were ready to betray him. As we live with others, sometimes we also face the same, our confreres or family
members or friends may betray us by revealing our confidential matters to others. We see everyone against Jeremiah. Everyone wants to “denounce him.” Often in our life, we face such
situations when we stand for truth, or when we need to do good for others.

Sometimes, we may not like a person who stands alongside such people. Despite facing rejections, they do not give up what they are convinced of, because it has been revealed to them by God. In the gospel reading, we see Jesus wants to show the truth to the Jews who considered him as a blasphemer. Jesus tells them about the work he is doing, and the works of his Father. So, they wanted to stone him to death. Often, we like to hear and speak about what is pleasing and nice for the eyes. We do not discuss things that are important for the life that we are called for.

Jesus faced the same when he pointed out the hidden part of Jews which made them angry at Jesus. When we look into our lives, we like to only hear what we want to hear or expect to hear. As we are in this season of Lent, we need to look for the values that are right for our religious lives and our hearts have to be opened fearlessly, to trust and listen to him.
