Treat People With Dignity

By Pritam Dangwar csc –

Readings: Eph 3:2-12; Lk 12: 39-48

The first reading tells me to read the word of God to learn about the hidden treasures of insights for daily living. As a religious, the word of God is the source from where we draw strength and confidence to preach.

The gospel reading tells me two things – one is to be alert, and the other is to not misuse the opportunities given to me to serve people with humility. If I can comply with these two things with sincerity in my heart, I will be blessed abundantly.

In this reading, eating and drinking symbolize the pleasures of the world by which I may be led to blindly act evil. I must get over my lethargy and narrow-mindedness of viewing people as low. As a religious, I will be expected to be even more respectful of all people irrespective of their colour, education, occupation etc. I need to treat all persons with equal dignity and lead the way towards a happy life.
