Tied Down By Work Pressures? Time to Join Bangalore’s Tech Park Prayer Groups

Anonymous

In 2006, I got my first job posting in Bangalore – India’s Silicon City. It was a start-up company with several business issues. As I struggled through tough times, I had a very close Jesus Youth (an international Catholic youth movement with charismatic spirituality and approved by the Holy See) friend of mine called Prince posted at another company in the same office building. I used to call him so that we could pray together for overcoming our struggles as we both had our own share of worries, but mostly mine.

Over time the Lord rescued me from that situation into a more stable company which, however, saw the honeymoon period end rather quickly with a change of management. This led to a lot of confusion and support problems from my higher bosses. Here, however I lacked the opportunity of fellowship. Dejected, I had to leave Bangalore.

Once again the Lord blessed me to come back to Bangalore to join a new company. Here again after 1-2 years, I was under an extremely tough and demanding management. Couple of years into this, I had a close seemingly-elder brother named Biju joining in the same tech park. We both decided to pray together.

This was the beginning of our spiritual warfare journey. We did have success but our weekly meetings used to have very few attendees. However, we later connected our fellowship to Jesus Youth formally. We have a group of about 20 members. Due to different workload schedules, we have 5-10 members attending at any given time.

In the past two years, the situation of my company got better and my work pressure and tensions reduced considerably. I still find though, that several of our group members get stuck into too much workload and thereby making their yoke heavy; so that they don’t get time to pray or attend the our fellowship. It gradually becomes a bondage with less time spent with the Lord. But our blessed Lord Jesus says and appeals us to come to him in Matthew 11:28. Indeed it is our choice.

We saw that gradually our prayers and intercessions were quickly being answered by the Lord in the form of fruits like people getting new jobs, marriage blocks removed, blessings with more children, blessings in studies, blessings of getting new homes, elimination of job-related issues, etc.

We also prayed for tech park groups around Bangalore and saw that indeed it was God’s will. Not surprisingly, the fire was ignited in many other tech parks. We started receiving messages in our groups which were very accurate. We then changed our prayer group to a different timing as suggested by the elder brother Biju and we also started a Jericho rosary prayer procession led by Fijo – our new coordinator.

Recently, we had a one-day program called ‘Communion’ 2018’ on June 9th organized under the blessed guidance of our beloved priest Rev. Fr. Binesh from Shoenstat congregation. It was a program filled with God’s anointing. It was a great experience as we saw the Lord guiding us through each stage by way of arranging resource persons for sessions, venue, food, counselling, confessions, Eucharist and music.

To conclude, in today’s world, spiritual warfare is very important to tackle the evil one. Since most of our daily time is spent at office, it makes perfect sense to meet together with like-minded people and grow the kingdom of God.

Holy Spirit is an ignited fire sent from the Lord who brings us closer to Lord Jesus. Our weekly prayer group has a praise and worship session, experience and word sharing, intercession and anointing. We have recently begun working on healing prayers as well. The Lord has blessed us with place to sit together and pray. There is no end to his mercies if we have a will to gather in his name and he indeed is present when two or more gather in his name (Matthew 18:20).

Reflection: One day the Lord said to me that it’s his own group. Other religion groups that were run by other people (like the Muslim brethren in our tech park) stopped over time (as those were people-driven), but our group keeps running. It’s been four and half years now since we began the group and it’s going great.
