“Hail Mary, full of grace.” This is a sign of God’s Love towards humankind in which he himself takes initiative to bring back his beloved children to himself by sending angel Gabriel to mother Mary on the day of annunciation to fulfill the plan of salvation. Mother Mary humbles herself by saying “Yes” to the Angel.

Mary teaches us to go out from our own comfort zone and submit to the will of God. When one submit his life to God’s will, he conform himself to God by saying ‘I am ready to obey your command and for you to take control over my life.’ It is not an easy task because he has to forgo his ego, self-comfort, etc. It is a total abandonment of one’s self.

When Mary says “Yes” to God it is very difficult to understand by our human thinking because it is beyond our human ability. Let us ask ourselves, ‘what is God asking from me to do?’ God speaks every day through different people in different situations which sometimes we are not aware. Our duty is to listen and respond to his call by saying ‘yes’ to God and allow his will to be done in our lives. Mary says “Yes” to God and continued all the way to the foot of the cross. Therefore, through the intercession of Mary our mother may we be able to say ‘yes’ to God’s word and surrender to his will.
