Today, the Church celebrates the solemnity of Saint Joseph, the spouse of Mary and the guardian of our redeemer. Saint Joseph epitomizes faith in God and obedience to his will, hence he is held in such high regard by the Church.

The gospel of the day tells us that he was a righteous man, entrusted by God with the unique privilege of being the husband of Mary and raising, protecting, teaching, and training Jesus as a growing child. Joseph embraced his roles of husband and father with faith, trust, and obedience to God’s will, serving as a model for all tasked with the care, instruction, and protection of God’s mission. Joseph stands as a faithful witness and servant of God’s unfolding plan of redemption.

Are we ready to trust in the Lord to provide us with his help and guidance in fulfilling our responsibilities? Certainly, God springs forth strength and guidance to those who seek his help, especially in times of trials, doubts, fears, perplexing circumstances, and when things seem impossible and challenging. Our heavenly father does not abandon us but rather protects, guides, and attends to our needs. Like Joseph, we need to place our faith in God and allow him to direct our steps wherever he desires. Moreover, he has given us his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be our saviour, teacher, Lord, and healer.

Therefore, let us pray, through the intercession of St. Joseph, that God may grant us the grace to live lives of faith, obedience, and righteousness, carrying out his will in our day-to-day lives.
