The event will be flagged-off at 6:30 am by Archbishop of Bangalore Most Rev Dr Bernard Moras, along with church heads from the community and sports celebrities. The run will begin and end at St. Francis Xavier’s Cathedral.

The event is all about  disciplining oneself with a healthy lifestyle and a purposeful living. The second edition of Salvation Run marks its origin to a divinely-given impulse to play and deserves a rightful place in Christian living. The run has been the brain child of Elvis Joseph, a former State athlete and sports management professional, who initiated the first Christian Run by bringing leaders from across all churches and denominations to endorse and engage in a faith-motivated sports and a healthy lifestyle; thereby creating a thrill of competition, a sense of community and fellowship that comes from participation.

Most Rev Dr Bernard Moras (Archbishop of Bangalore)

According to Elvis, “The “Vision to Salvation Run” is my calling; and today I know the purpose of it, I always longed to work for the greater glory of God, Today it’s an answered prayer. The greatest gift God gave me was sports but I really did not know the real purpose of it and where I was heading with this gift, it took many years for me to understand this gift.  While I was reading my Bible, John chapter 14, Jesus comforting his disciples saying” “Do not let your hearts be troubled ” and in verse six, Jesus says “I am the way the truth and life no one comes to the father except through me“. This verse actually convinced me as I pondered and prayed over and over again, the Holy Spirit made it clear to me that my gateway to the heavenly father is only through Jesus Christ.”

“With much prayer I began to understand and realize that my Salvation is only through Jesus Christ, and my only purpose is to accept Jesus as my lord and savior, so I can live in eternity with our heavenly father, it’s God’s will for me to run this race fixing my eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of my faith,” Elvis added.

Elaborating further Elvis said, “I believe this is the need of the hour for Christian believers to receive and share the message of salvation and learn how to achieve their highest potential in all areas of life with consistency of practice in faith and obedience through mentoring by the word of God.”

The vision for a greater Christian unity begins with leaders who walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ and believe in being united. Most Rev Dr Bernard Moras (Archbishop of Bangalore) initiated the “United Christian Forum”(UCF) bringing all denominations together as a wake-up call for the Christian fraternity to be United in Christ.

“As I shared my vision on Salvation Run to His Grace – Archbishop, he explained there is a purpose behind everything, and the creation of the human body is no different. Thus, regular exercise, proper diet, getting enough rest and appropriate social activities will benefit physically mentally and spiritually,” Elvis added.

However, the focus on promoting and educating to endure good health is the key, and to “Run the Race Set before us” proclaiming “ I Belong To Jesus “ and living the Gospel in truth

Sport occupies a legitimate place in the created world and thus helps express emotions, integrity, character and values by taking ownership to understand and respect one another and help in developing the welfare and eco system of the society emphasizing on health and wellness promoting a sporting culture bringing hope among children, youth and the community at large.

“I also believe Salvation Run will encourage the Christian denominations to bond more closely with each other and being greater witnesses for the kingdom of God,” Elvis added.
