Put on the Garments of Faith and Prayer Till Our Last Breath

Readings: Is 25:6-10; Phil 4:12-14, 19-20; Mt 22:1-14

It was a tradition in Israel that every guest must wear wedding garments to become a worthy attendee of a function. We all are part of heavenly banquet irrespective of colour, race, religion etc. The readings clearly give us the message that we must remove the garments of worldly pleasures and put on those of faith and prayer. This is towards everlasting happiness. It is easy to do good and value-oriented talks but when it comes to practice, many of us are hesitant to follow what we have said from our conviction.

Be it our brothers, sisters, parents or any one for that matter, all of us fail to become worthy participants of God’s dwelling place only because of our ignorance. At the time of judgment, God may throw us away from his presence, because we are like the persons who did not wear wedding garments. God gives us chances every day to come to him; it is in us to make our life worthy by not following ill practices that may give only temporary pleasures. Jesus is ever ready to welcome us with wide open arms. Let us try to put on the wedding garments of faith and prayer till our last breath to enter the kingdom of God.
