Pray and Thank God for all His Blessing

Readings: Acts 11:21-26, 13: 1-3; Mt 5: 20-26

Today the liturgy invites us to preach and believe in the word of God. Today both readings challenge us to live a missionary life. In the gospel reading Jesus guides his disciples not to carry anything for their mission work and teaches to believe and trust in God the provider.

It is a big question to all of us. If we are in the same situation will be able to carry out the mission? Yes we can, it is possible. When we see the life of saints like mother Theresa and Antony of Desert we understand. We celebrate the memorial of St. Barnabas who surrendered himself to God and dedicated his whole life for the happiness of the people.

When we imitate Christ and follow in the footsteps of saints we too can become true disciples of Christ and dedicate our whole life in spreading the good news to the whole world. But if we enjoy the luxurious life we cannot become true disciples. So it reminds us to give away all the luxurious life and follow Christ and live simple life which leads us from speech to action.

Today the readings give a call to each of us to revisit the call that we received to serve our Lord in various ways partaking in his holy mission. We need to spend more time in prayer to be strengthened to live our life meaningfully. Prayer is very important for God’s mission because it is the bridge between God and human. Through this we get lots of divine power and friendship with the Lord. So today we pray and thank God for all the blessing that he has showered upon us.
