Today we see in the first reading how St. James beautifully gives advice to the twelve tribes and to us. He says any kind of trials and a difficulty that comes into our life is not to hamper or put down our belief and faith, rather to make us stronger in our belief and steadfast in our faith. And he tells us that steadfastness become perfect or we can make it perfect through deeds.

Our having strong and steadfast faith in God is good but this alone is not enough to become perfect, we must bring this abstract and invisible things into a visible and tangible form through our deeds and exemplary lives. Our life becomes perfect when we practice these in our daily life. What we believe and what we profess, our words and deeds, faith and actions must go hand in hand.

They enhance the quality of our lives and lead towards perfection. However, our life in this world is ultimately measured by the positive contribution that we give to the people through our word, deeds and actions. Through our good performance we shine in the sight of God. So, as St. James has asked us today, let us pray to God to help us in our day to day life to practice what we believe and profess.
