Love Can Surpass All Problems

Readings: Acts 8: 5-8, 14-17; 1Pet 3:15-18; Jn 14:15-21

We are in the 6th Sunday of the Easter. Today from all the readings we get the message; ‘God never leaves us alone.’ He is always there with us in our joys and sorrows because he loves us. In the first reading we see Peter and John went to the place where Philip was, to share the same spirit with the people that they have received from the Lord.

The grace of God is for all. He does not want anyone to be without his grace and presence because he loves us. Second reading tells us to stand for the faith that we profess and hope for. St Peter urges us that when we live for our faith even when we die we live, we live in Jesus. There is tremendous richness in God’s eyes, when we suffer for the good rather than doing wrong. Pleasing the eyes of God is better than pleasing the human eyes.

Gospel reading gives us the very comforting and consoling words: “I will not leave you orphan.” God never fails in his promise. He will be there till the end of our life. He cannot keep himself away from his creatures because he loves us. Sometimes it is we who go astray from him; it is we who at times say, ‘I don’t need God.’ Sometimes we feel that God does not answer or help us even when we pray wholeheartedly. Sometimes we do experience that kind of feelings. But it is not that God is not listening to our prayers. He knows what is good for us and is always ready to accompany and join with us when we are in pain because he loves us dearly and his love can surpass all our problems.
