Living in a Community of Humanity

Readings: 1 Jn 5:5-13, Lk 5:12-16

A parent would go to any extent to meet the basic needs of their child. If the need of the child is genuine the parents will provide without any hesitation. When the man with leprosy comes to Jesus and asks for healing, without any delay Jesus responds to him positively and heals him of his disease. Being human he is able to understand the feelings of the man and his need to be a part of the society and be with the people. On the other hand being divine he is able to heal him at once.

The world at present gives a lot of opportunity for many people to be rich and enjoy the luxury it has, and on the other hand I cannot deny the fact that it gives a lot of complication to the people to make their livelihood possible. In the name of development the government itself goes to the extent of making the lives of the people miserable. In the past few years a lot of bills were passed which became a big challenge for the people.

All of these rules and regulations are even taking the identity from them as citizens, but courageously proclaims that nothing would happen to anyone. All of this is making mockery of the people. This is when today’s reading invites me to take a step like Jesus, to go against the rules and regulations and make the people feel accepted by the society and try to remove the pain that is caused to them and bring them back to the community of humanity.
