“Anyone who tries to preserve his life will lose it, and anyone who loses it will keep it safe.” Jesus clearly expresses how each one is judged on the last day. During the time of Noah, God destroyed the world by flood and used the ark to save Noah’s family alone.
Asking Lot to leave Sodom, God destroyed it with fire from heaven. There was an alert in both incidents of God’s work against evil people. Today, Jesus gives us a warning for that night when two are in bed; one will be taken, the other left. God gives us always a warning before any incident that happens in our lives.
If I feel I know everything, and I do not bother about God’s work in my life; then I may lose my life. I should not think to preserve my life to do what I want to do; I need to lose my life to inherit life. When I say I have to lose my life, I need to lose my selfishness, causing ill to others, ego, and so on. Today, it is an invitation for me to change so that I may be the one who is left
to live a life of the Gospel.
