A Letter From Mother Earth

By Fr. Vivian Richards. S –

My Dear Child,

Even though I look strong and mighty I am fragile. Yes, I am spread out vast and huge, yet I am vulnerable. God created me for your happiness. He gave me to you for your sustenance. You are my steward and you are my guardian, if so why do you destroy me and hurt me by satisfying your greed; extracting me more than your need.

Have I not been good and loving towards you, ever since God gave me to you?

Why do you seek to satisfy yourself by being so cruel and mean to me?

You cut my hair and made me bald, now I am not able to bear the scorching sun and, therefore emanate my stress and strain and you call it global warming.

You dump me with a crown not of pricking thorns but that of irritating plastic and poisonous non-degradable things. I neither have crucifixion nor resurrection but only perpetual suffocation and destruction.

You have contaminated my blood by injecting all waste and dirty fluid and dig me deep for clear water.

In order to own my organs namely fossil fuel, precious metals you dig me deep and deep and make me imbalanced.

I was giving you oxygen by inhaling your carbon-dioxide and now you have cut all those mechanisms, you have made me suffocate and you are choking yourself to death.

Dear Child, I was created for your happiness and for the happiness of future generation. Therefore, live and let live.
