Do I rejoice when I see the signs of God’s presence in my life? We are in the third Sunday of Advent which is called rejoicing Sunday. The readings invite us to reflect on our life which has become like dry land which block us to rejoice even at the coming of Christ.

Today’s Gospel reading gives us a beautiful message for our life.

As John the Baptist was preparing and waiting patiently for the Messiah, he sends word through his disciples to Jesus to know if he is the one that is to come. Jesus asked the disciples of John the Baptist to share with him all that they had experienced in his presence like healing the blind, raising the dead, and bringing the good news to the poor. So, he is the fulfilment of the prophets.

Jesus revealed himself and made John the Baptist to receive what he was waiting for. So, let us look into our own life and ask ourselves—Do I see the signs of God’s presence in my life, and others?

In the second reading St. James asks us to establish our hearts for the coming of our Lord Jesus. Our Lord Jesus is coming but when and how we do not know. So, St. James is reminding us to prepare our hearts with hope and patience. Let this Advent challenge us to open our eyes to see the signs of God’s presence in the world and fill our hearts with joy.
