Let the Grace of God be Upon You

Readings: Ex 33: 7-9; Rom 13: 8-10; Mt 18: 15-20

The gospel reading calls and invites us to possess the spirit of forgiveness. The absence of war and violence in our inner world can lead us to experience peace of mind and heart. In the current situation, several people are affected due to hatred, jealousy, power-seeking, ethnic conflict, and so on. Yet deep down in hearts, does not everyone look for peace? I believe everyone does.

Today through the readings, Jesus challenges us to take the initiative to pave the way for mending our broken relationships. Jesus offers a simple guide to help us handle our sins and its consequences. He affirms and promises that he is truly present whenever we gather in his name in unity. His assurance is the good news for us who are members of Christ’s Church.

Therefore, the best way to repair our damaged relationships is to remain receptive to the promptings of the Spirit with a forgiving heart. Thus, we can attain spiritual freedom and restoration from broken relationships with God, self, and others. Let the grace of God be upon us to take the initiative in forgiving others daily and in encountering life’s demands and challenges with zeal and courage.
