Let Our Disbelief Turn into Faith

Readings: Acts 3: 13-15,17-19; 1 Jn 2: 1-5a; Lk 24: 35-48

Human being are weak. All the three readings of the day portray it in an explicit way. People saw the miracles of Jesus, saw him casting out demons, healing and preaching the word of God. In spite of all this, people rejected him. Close friends of Jesus ran away when he was arrested. First disciple denied him, one among them betrayed him. Those concrete experiences with Christ for
three years were not enough for them to be firm in their faith.

Often in my life I too lack that ‘firmness’. I deny Christ when I am challenged with troubles in life. I run away from Christ and depend on technologies and machines to accomplish my work. I doubt his existence in my life and keep my face away from him.

The gospel is showing us a Jesus, coming down to his disciples to make them believe, make them firm in their faith and make them bold and courageous to continue his mission which was entrusted to them before his death. Let us realize that Jesus is merciful and loves us. What we need to do is to find him in our life. He comes to us in the form of people in need and people helping us. Let us be grateful to him for those moments of help and be ready to help others. Let us treat our disbelief and turn back to him in faith.
