Today, in the Gospel reading Jesus says that the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Today we celebrate the feast of St. Joachim and Anne, who are the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the grandparents of our Lord Jesus.

In the Gospel, the disciples came to Jesus and asked him to explain a parable. It shows their willingness to learn from the master. Looking at their eagerness Jesus explained the parable of the weeds of the field to them. In every individual there are good and bad behaviors. There is always a fight between them in the inner self of every individual. We need to recognize the evil or bad behaviors in us.

When we recognize that there are evil behaviors then we try to keep them away and allow good behaviors to grow. But most often we are confused between the good and bad behaviors. To do discernment we need to go to God and patiently sit in his presence. He who is the source of everything will help us to understand what is evil and good.

In the parable of the weeds, the servants wanted to go and pull out the weeds, but the master told them to wait patiently till the harvest.

It is necessary to wait patiently for each one who is struggling between good and bad. It is necessary to be patient rather than destroy the good with bad.
