St. John the evangelist, began his good news with the statement similar to that of Genesis, “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God” ( Jn 1:1). St. Luke too recorded Jesus saying, “Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

The word of God is eternal. It is the foundation of life. Applying it in our life, we see word is the first step to everything. From creation to destruction ‘words’ is the main player. Words can kill and can also give life. The word is a double-edged sword that promote life if it is wisely communicated and can also be a harmful weapon if not properly used. If a human word can have such an impact on our lives, what about the word of God who is “I Am”?

Whatever spoken in the Word of God are matter to be taken to heart. Learning to recognize the signs of God needs wisdom from God. The signs require to be read with the heart. Otherwise, our ways will be misinterpreted as God’s ways. As religious, I am called to recognize God’s signs that come in various forms and interpret them in a way that directs us all to the Father: not what I think it should be, but what I know to be right in accordance with the word of God.

Therefore, let us illumine our mind and heart with the Word of God each new day, so that we may be found worthy to lead others to
Christ.
