He is Our Only Hope

Francis Gayang csc –

Easter Vigil marks the end of Lenten observance. On this night the church invites us to contemplate on the necessary death of Jesus for atonement for our sins.

In the process of pondering over the death of Christ, we are also invited to prepare ourselves to celebrate the victory of Light over the darkness of the world. His light will shine and cast out all fears of mortality.

As Christ’s resurrection from death marked the beginning of new life, we too, in the sincerity of our heart, must leave the tomb of victimization of sinful habits that block and prevent us from being with Christ and cause spiritual decay in us.

This night offers us a moment to reflect and be renewed in Christ, accepting him as our Lord and God, letting his light shine on us and lead us to new life. He is our only hope and in him alone we find abundant life.
