God Created Us to do His Will

By Sharon Piuse, CSC –

Readings: 2Cor 4:7-15; Mt 20:20-28

The first reading tells that Jesus made himself visible in our mortal flesh. We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with him. We all should have the same mentality of “I believe and so I spoke.”

God died for us, so for his sake I will carry the cross and I will live like Jesus even though it may be difficult for each one. When we practice little things in our life, later on we become the children of God, like St Mother Theresa of Kolkata. She was carrying in her body the death of Jesus. She did everything for the sake of God.

Being the feast of St. James, in the gospel reading we see that the mother of James and John asking Jesus to grant permission to sit one at his right and one at left. Sometimes we also become like the mother of James and John. If my children sit both side of Jesus they will get high position in the society. Mother also may have thought that she will also be respected by the people.

If we could ask the seminarians they also say that I need to become priest because people will respect me and also I can use costly things etc. Both readings tell that God created us to live and do the will of God. We are all called to speak the good news of Jesus. So, we need to live a holy life in order to fulfill God’s will in our lives.
