Forgiving One Another

By Sharon Piuse, CSC –

Readings: Rom 7: 18-25; Lk 12:54- 59

The first reading speaks about sin and sinful behavior. The reading also tells about the inner conflict that each one suffers. We are all aware of it. I can will what is right, but l cannot do it. When we reflect upon our life, we can see that most of the time, we do what we don’t want to do.

But the reading tells that it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. We are all living in this world which is surrounded by sin. In my mind I am a slave to the law of God, but in my flesh I am a slave to the law of the world.

In the gospel reading we see two things. On one hand we are good in interpreting the signs of the time, and on the other hand we have to forgive one another. We are gifted with interpreting the time, but we don’t know what is right and good, so we are not doing things right. We are all good in insisting others to do it, but we are not able to do it. Both readings of today invite us to live a happy life and forgive one another.
