What is sown as corruptible seed rises incorruptible as new life. The spiritual will transform the natural or physical in us and we shall resemble
the heavenly person the risen Jesus.
Today Saint Paul re-asserts the fact that Jesus had indeed risen from the dead and he wants all believers to experience and resemble that resurrected one.
In the gospel reading we hear about the parable of the seed. Today through this parable Jesus invites us to examine our life and see which one of these
four different responses we nurture more, and make amends accordingly.
For God keeps offering us opportunity after opportunity to make our life a fertile soil and produce more fruits. Here I would not say that those four (4 different types of fields) different categories are referring to different people rather four responses or attitudes in a person.
Yes, as a fragile human we all have these four attitudes or fields within us. Now the question is in which one of these four fields I sow my seed (Seed= the Kingdom values and Word of God) and yes, where I sow will determine the sort of person I am. It is very clear to us that Jesus wants us to put the seed in fertile ground of our life which will be productive and bearing much fruit.
He wants us to expand this fertile ground within us and eventually to engulf all other 3 fields. Now how do we do it? Jesus ask us to pray, to spend time studying His word, to examine our lives in the light of His teaching and to treat others in love. When we do these earnestly, yes, undoubtedly we will transform our rocky and thorny fields into fertile field and become more like Jesus.
