Empowering Youth: Arunachal Pradesh’s Rajanagar Parish Hosts School Dropout and Drug Addiction Awareness Programme

Rajanagar (Arunachal Pradesh): In a significant initiative aimed at curbing drug addiction and preventing school dropouts among the youth, Rajanagar Parish in Arunachal Pradesh saw a congregation of 231 enthusiastic young individuals. The one-day awareness programme, organized with unwavering dedication, was marked by an influential resource person in the person of Sr. Jacinta Topno, FMA, who shared valuable insights on combating these pressing issues.

Prior to this awareness progrmme, under the watchful guidance of Mr. Oling Lego, the Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Bordhumsa, a diverse panel of experts was brought together, including two Catholic priests, namely Fr. Rajesh Lakra SDB, the Parish Priest of Rajanagar and Fr Churuliyil Manoj Abraham, Headmaster of Don Bosco School Galenja, two Buddhist monks, Gaon Budhas, and government representatives. Their collective wisdom was solicited to address the grave concern of drug addiction, particularly among the younger demographic.

The ADC of Bordhumsa, known for his proactive stance on community issues, sought advice from this distinguished panel, recognizing the multifaceted approach required to combat the menace of drug addiction. During the discussions, he lauded the commendable efforts of the Catholic missionaries for their tireless work in uplifting the youth.

Sr. Jacinta Topno, a distinguished resource person with extensive experience in community development, took center stage to address the youth. She fervently emphasized the importance of education and discouraged young individuals from becoming dropouts. Her inspirational words resonated with the audience, encouraging them to persevere in their studies and not succumb to the allure of leaving school prematurely.

The event at Rajanagar Parish served as a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against drug addiction and the dropout crisis. It united the youth, religious leaders, and government officials in their shared commitment to safeguarding the future of the younger generation.
