Ecumenical Body in Nagaland to Train Youth

The Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) had its general meeting and a seminar for the pastors and church leaders on 25th August, at Bethesda AG Church, Walford, Dimapur.

The first session began by Fr C P Anto as the moderator and he shared the present scenario of youth in the state and the nation. Rev. Vitoshe Swu did the invocation prayer and Rev. Moses Murry gave the welcome address.

The theme of the seminar was “The role of the churches in combating unemployment in Nagaland with special reference to the present Covid-19 pandemic”.  Rev Fr Paul Maipan sdb, director, Vocational Training Center, Dimapur, Mr. Prem Kumar, Pinnacle Training Institute, Dimapur, Rev. Fr. Roy, Director AIDA, Dimapur were the resource persons. They expressed the role of the Christian Churches as the most important platform in providing developmental skills to young people of Nagaland who have lost their jobs during the COVID–19 pandemic situation. They presented various trades and possible areas where youth can seek training and equip them with job after the training. They also encouraged the pastors and church leaders to send their young people to different skill development centres with job placement opportunities.

The resource persons concluded by emphasizing on the remark “the Church is the only hope” for the spiritual, social and economic development of the Naga youths affected due to the pandemic for which the CFD can take the initiative and lead to bring positive changes in Nagaland. Mrs. Nini Sekhose pronounced the vote of thanks to the speakers for their time and encouragement.

The second session of general body meeting was for the election of the new office bearers.  Rev. Moses Murry, the chairman tabled the CFD amended Constitution for the approval and the members accepted it unanimously. Rev. N. Paphino pronounced the word of appreciation to the former CFD office bearers for their tireless efforts in promoting ecumenical witness in the society during their tenure and specially during the COVID–19 pandemic. The newly selected members for 2020 – 2023 are Rev. Moses Murry (Chairman), Rev. Vitoshe Swu (vice chairman), Fr. C.P Anto (Secretary), Rev. Vangpong Phom (joint secretary), Rev T Ariba Imchen (treasurer), Rev. Kele Angami (finance secretary) and Ps. Yanpemo Lotha (information secretary).
