Managed by the General Administration from Rome, the Fransalians have been serving in the field of education worldwide, known as the SFS or De Sales Group of Educational Institutions.

According to Fr. J. Stephen MSFS, Director, DeSIFMA, “Upon completion of their courses, students receive diplomas from both DeSIFMA and the Council for Vocational Education and Skill Development, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. The academy offers various course durations ranging from one year to one month, with hostel facilities available for both boys and girls at a nominal cost.”

“As an added benefit, for candidates recommended by Parish Priests and Diocesan Communication Centres, a 15% concession will be provided,” he added.

The academic year 2023–24 at DeSIFMA was filled with a plethora of activities, including seminars, workshops, productions, regular classes, competitions, and film festivals. Students were exposed to various facets of filmmaking through workshops conducted by industry stalwarts like Mr. B. Lenin and others.

What sets DeSIFMA apart is its commitment to providing practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge. With facilities like a well-equipped movie editing studio, cinematography studio, dubbing theatre, a 60-seated preview theatre, and a newly constructed recording theatre, students have access to state-of-the-art equipment to hone their skills.

The academy boasts a diverse student body from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Nagaland, Sri Lanka, Andhra Pradesh, Zambia, and East Africa. Students undergo rigorous training in areas such as scriptwriting, film direction, photography, cinematography, editing, post-production, graphic design, and sound engineering.

DeSIFMA’s curriculum is designed to make students proficient in all aspects of filmmaking, turning them into ‘Content Creators and Professionals of the Next Generation’. Through internships, students gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience, paving the way for successful placements in the cinema and television industries worldwide.

  1. Great, need of the hour. Incidentally I am running two youtube channels, one since about 4 year and the other more recently, with a total investment of Rs 200/- and Rs 100/- respectively. Where there’s will there’s a way.
