Come With a Clean Heart

Readings: Ez 18: 21-28; Mt 5: 20-26

In the first reading Ezekiel helps us to understand that even if we went away from God by sinning, if we turn away from the evil doing and become good we will not be punished. But for the very nature of turning ourselves from Evil and becoming good will help us to live our life and God will not punish for the evil things we have done.

In the Gospel reading we see that when we come to offer an offering to the Lord and when we see that we have not forgiven our brother and we are coming to the Lord half-hearted, then it is our duty to leave the offering there itself and go and ask pardon from him. If we do not do this then Lord will not accept our offering.

Lord wants us to come to him with a clean heart. A clean heart will help us to receive blessings. Through this reading Jesus is asking us to leave the negative aspects which are there in our life. So being a positive person and coming out of negative things will help us to live a good life. Jesus is asking us to change the way of life so that we can receive the blessings that he sends. If we are not ready to change our life, we are the losers because the blessings from Christ will not come to us because there is a block, that is, we are not ready to forgive our brothers.
