Bring Grace Upon One Another

The God of Israel is the God of Christians. We the Christians resemble the nation of Israel whom God chose as his prized possession. Today’s gospel says that servants are not greater than the master. The cause of human disaster, religious and communal riots is despising the wisdom of fear of the Lord.

When we observe the faith journey of Israel from Egypt to the new kingdoms, it presents to us the cycle of life experiences. That is, God chose them, they were unfaithful to his covenant, he punished and restored them again. We too encounter the series of experiences in our lives.

As we proceed in the spirit of encountering God in our routine life, we gradually become the masters and we forget to listen to “the Master”. And once we become superheroes we lose the spirit of fear of the Lord and our credibility by which we are called Christians. This attitude leads us to deny our dependence on God and our mode of life changes. Jesus very beautifully expressed this state of ours saying “the one who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.” the death of Jesus also shows that people denied his goodness. Let us acknowledge our shortcomings and renew ourselves to follow passionately the spirit of fear of the Lord. Let this attitude in us bring grace upon one another.
