B’luru Accords Warm Welcome to His Eminence Cardinal Tagle

Bengaluru: His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Pro-Prefect Dicastery for Evangelization was accorded a warm and affectionate welcome at the Bangalore international airport on Sunday at 11 pm.

Cardinal Tagle was received by His Grace Most Rev. Peter Machado, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore and Rev. Dr. Stephen Alathara, Deputy Secretary General of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI). Fr. Vignan Das, Associate Director Communio, Fr. Gabriel Christy and Fr. Vivek Basu were also present.

The Prefect is in Bengaluru to take part in the 34th Plenary Assembly Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), which will take place during January 24-30, 2023 at St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru. The theme of the conference is “Telling the Story of Jesus in our Context: The Synodal Way.”

Cardinal Tagle will deliver the inaugural address at the evnt. His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, President, CCBI, will offer the presidential address; followed by a benedictory message by the Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, His Excellency Most Rev. Leopoldo Girelli.

Cardinal Tagle was earlier scheduled to visit St Peter’s Pontifical Seminary to observe the Altar Servers’ Day where over close to 200 altar servers of Bangalore Archdiocese had gathered to commemorate the mass with children. However, His Eminence had to give the event a miss as his flight was delayed.
