Believe in His Openness

Readings: Jer 11:18-20; Jn 7: 40-53

Today’s scripture readings invite me to open the gates of my heart to believe Jesus. I can never know the person of Jesus fully because of my pride and judgmental attitudes. I am afraid of
knowing the truth about him and I realize that my Ignorance stops me from getting close to him. I give less importance to people though they deserve my full attention and care.

Sometimes I have behaved ridiculously regarding their talents and difficulties. I do not treat others with dignity, rather I question and grumble about their work and service. Sometimes because of my prejudice and hatred towards the other, I neglect and disregard them despite their goodness. Through the gospel reading, Jesus is inviting me to be optimistic and hopeful about
others without looking at their past life, family background and failures.

The people who knew Jesus and understood what he was for them were poor, gentiles, sick, and broken. They believed in him with openness and total dependence. If I am an intellectual and spiritual person, yet like Nicodemus, a learned man who took efforts to know Jesus with openness in dialogue; I would be able to enter into a relationship with others in genuine openness, truth, and right understanding.
