Be Open to His Plans

By Naresh Namindla csc

Readings: Acts 16: 1-10; Jn 15: 18-21

We have our own plans and ways to make our lives beautiful. Our life truly becomes beautiful if our plans are executed properly. We execute our plans properly and get success if our plans are in line with the Master’s who expects us to fulfill his plans for us. We see in the first reading that the Holy Spirit, in a vision to St Paul, diverted his travel plan to Asia and turned him to Macedonia to give them good news of God. St Paul accepted God’s plan for him and for his mission.

Gospel reading of today reminds us that God chose us to do his ministry and we belong to him. Whatever happens to us, good or evil, we attribute it to God, as his plan for us. These readings of today play an important role for us to understand the present scenario in our society as God’s plan for us. During this pandemic of corona virus many things are taking place. On one hand people are suffering, struggling and succumb to death.

On the other hand, people are becoming one, despite their religion and culture. We feel pity and angry at the things happening right now but truly God has his plan for it. The invitation for us is to wait patiently without losing our faith on Jesus whose ways and plans are not our ways and plans. This season of Easter reminds us of the fruitful life after the suffering. Therefore, we need to ask God to enable us to endure this pandemic rather than complain. Let us ask God to help us to be open to his plans and ways so that like Peter we too may be guided by the Holy Spirit.
