Arunachal: NES’ Radiance Ends on a Colourful Note

Deomali: Radiance, an inter-school annual sports and cultural event of Newman Educational Society (NES), the educational wing of Miao Diocese, came to a colourful conclusion at St. George School, Deomali on 17 October.

Newman Educational Society, which has 46 schools under its care in the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh, conducted its seventh edition of Radiance, an inter-school sports and cultural event, at St. George School, Deomali in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh this year from 14 to 17 October.

Nearly 620 students from 22 Schools of NES participated in the three-day event this year, competing in various group and individual games and sports items.

Hon’ble MLA, Mr. Tirong Aboh, was the Chief Guest at the concluding ceremony and he lavished praises on the students and NES for the wonderful event. He also acknowledged and appreciated the role of Christians in the field of education in East Arunachal Pradesh. Rev. Fr. Edvin Prabhu, the Diocesan Administrator also spoke at the event, encouraging the students to keep the body fit and healthy in order to keep the mind fit to acquire knowledge.

The event was concluded with distribution of trophies to the winners. Newman School Neotan of Changlang District emerged as the overall Champion of the event, and St. Savio School, Kanubari and De Paul School, Tissa of Longding District, that participated for first time in the event, emerged as the First and Second Runners Up respectively.

“Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Thomas Erambil, the Secretary of NES, and his team, the Staff that accompanied the students, the winners and all the students for their wonderful performance at the event”, said Mr. Aboh.

Students from Mother Theresa School, Kharsang, Light of the World School, Miao and St. George School, Deomali, presented traditional dances to give a colourful conclusion to the seventh edition of Radiance.
