Miao: The first time voters in the furthest state of India brimmed with enthusiasm as they casted their votes in the simultaneous election held for Lok Sabha and Sate Assembly on 11 April.
The furthest state of India, Arunachal Pradesh, bordering Myanmar and China went to polling for Lok Sabha and State Assembly much to the delight of its first time voters.
“It feels totally special today to cast my first vote”, said Namwom Wanglee, one of the first time voters from Miao constituency. “It is an out of the world feeling to exercise what we have learned in the textbook until today. I hope my vote goes on to elect the right leaders who will lead the state and the nation forward in peace and prosperity”, she added.
Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao Diocese in the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh, who became the first voter in the booth assigned to him, congratulated the first time voters for the lively enthusiasm exhibited by them and appreciated all for the peaceful conduct of the simultaneous election.
Another first time voter, Mishum Changmi, said he is voting for the change the society is need of. “There are many educated but jobless youth in our society these days. I am voting for a leader who would make jobs available” he said.
Kanman Ronrang of Balinong village in Changlang district, another first time voter too showed similar enthusiasm and said he was happy to exercise his right to vote.
The 2019 general elections that got underway from April 11 will conclude on May 19 with the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura going to Lok Sabha polls in different phases.
Manipur and Tripura will see two phases in polls while Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim completed the election in one phase today. The Lok Sabha polls in Assam will see three phases with the third on April 23. The result of 2019 general election is on 23 May.
