Goa: The Archdiocese of Goa and Daman is blessed with five new priests. They were ordained by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão on April 28 at Se Cathedral, Old Goa. They joined the Seminary of Our Lady, Saligão for their initial studies and completed their philosophical and theological studies at the Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol. The five newly-ordained priests are:
Fr. Clive Diniz: Fr. Clive is from Bharip ward of Colem village. He is the second Son of Analia and Charles Diniz. He has a brother. “I Have Chosen You.. (Jn 15; 16) is the motto of his priesthood. He joined the Seminary of Our Lady, Saligão in 2013 after completing a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Govt. Polytechnic College Curchorem. He has done his diaconate ministry at Mother of God’s Church, Pomburpa. Fr. Clive is appointed as Prefect of Discipline at Seminary of Our Lady, Saligao.
Fr. Kevin Deryl Fernandes: Fr. Kevin is the third child of Bemvinda Fernandes and Degolacao Fernandes from Mandopa Navelim. After completing his 10th Std at Loyola High School, Margao, he joined the Seminary of Our Lady, Saligão. He completed his graduation from St. Xaviers’s College Mapusa. “Called, Tended, Suffered, Saved” is the motto of his priesthood. He has a sister and his Brother is Fr. Solon Fernandes S.J. of Society of Jesus serving the Diocese of Belagum as a teacher at St. Pauls High School, Belgaum. He served the Parishioners of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Mandrem as a deacon. Fr. Kevin is appointed as an Assistant to the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Merces Church, Merces.
Fr. Elroy Francis da Gama: Fr. Elroy is from Calizor- Moira. He is the second child of Antonio Francisco Fernandes and Angelina Palmeira. He has two sisters. Having completed his MCOM from St. Xavier’s College Mapusa. he joined the Seminary of Our Lady, Saligão for his initial studies. “Do as I have done to you” is the motto of his priesthood. As a deacon, he was sent to the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Batim for his ministry. Fr Elroy is appointed as an Assistant to the Parish Priest of Mae De Deus Church Saligao
Fr. Alvison Fernandes: Fr. Alvison is the first child of Alexinho and Maria Fernandes from Khendir-Morjim. He has a sister. Having completed his 7th Std. at St. Francis Xavier’s High School, Siolim, he joined the Seminary of Our Lady, Saligão. “To know Jesus and be like him.” is the motto of his priesthood. He has completed his graduation from Dhempe College Miramar-Goa. He has done his Diaconate ministry at St. Tomas Church, Cansaulim. Fr. Alvison is appointed as an Assistant to the Parish Priest of Holy Spirit Church Margao.
Fr. Melito Dcosta : Fr. Melito, is the third child of Fernando and Flossy D’Costa from Laxette Varca. He has 1 brother and 1 sister. He joined the Seminary of Our Lady, Saligão after completing his 7th Std. at Our Lady of Nazareth School, Bhayandar, Mumbai. “Lord make me a servant like you.” is the motto of his priesthood. He has completed MA in Counselling Psychology from Carmel College, Nuvem. Served the Parishioners of St. Tomas’ Church Aldona as a deacon. Fr. Melito is appointed as an Assistant to the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Grace Church, Margao.
