Archbishop Designate Peter Machado Urges Youth to Overcome Drugs Addiction

By Louis Rodrigues-

Belagavi: Bishop of Belgaum who has been recently appointed by Pope Francis as the Archbishop of Bangaluru has urged citizens to honour the dignity of labour and proudly present one’s existence through work. He was speaking at a felicitation function that was organised in his honour by the Hope Centre at Peeranwadi here on the occasion of International Workers Day.

“A person is identified by the labour he does and in turn earns the dignity and respect in the society. Thus one must take pride in their work,” Bishop Peter said urging the inmates of the Center to forget the past and think today as the ‘future still lies in their hands’.
“Think about your parents who are toiling for your future and resolve that you would over come the addictions that destroy you and your families,” he urged.

He also lauded the yeoman service carried out by Rev Fr Pradeep Correa who has been painstakingly carrying out the extraordinary job of reforming the youngsters from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa and bringing new hope in their lives.

Extending his greetings to Bishop Peter as he takes up the new assignment as the archbishop of Bangaluru on May 31, Fr Pradeep said that Bishop Peter has been the guiding force for Hope Center. Rector Fr George, Fr Joseph, Louis Rodrigues and others were present. Workers at the Center were also felicitated on the occasion of International Workers Day.
