Accept the Plan of God by Forgoing Your Own Will

Readings: Mic 5: 2-5; Mt 1: 18-23

Today we celebrate the feast of the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The readings portray the personality of Mary. She was an ordinary woman, chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. She was a woman who played a role in bringing forth Jesus to the world by saying ‘yes’ to the will of God by forgoing her dreams, plans, and self-glory and allowing the will of God to be done in her life. It was also same for Joseph who did the needful to save the family.

These two characters today challenge me to allow the will of God to happen to me. But am I ready to say ‘yes’ as they said to accomplish God’s plan for the salvation of all the faithful?

These readings give me an invitation to accept the plan of God by forgoing my own will, programs, activities, and plans and come out of my comfort zone to say a total Yes to God with conviction. I will then become faithful to keep the promise of God to bring more people close to God.
