Readings of today speak about passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is also about our passion, death and resurrection in this life. Passion is about going through pain, sacrifice, and denial. We should be able to deny ourselves and sacrifice our own comforts, likes etc. We are invited to unmask the exterior outfits of duplicity to follow Christ. This act will purify us. We all like to be called ‘followers of Christ’. But often we do not like to follow the life Jesus had on earth. He spent time with his father.
He lived with the minimum. He spent time for others, joined others in their pain. As a human being, I do not like pain, I do not like suffering. I avoid ‘letting go of things’ and sacrifices. Let us try to realize, giving chances to others is the greatest gift we give to them and through them to God. Let this season of Lent allow us to make sacrifices consciously for the sake of Christ and die to our worries, ego, and awkward behaviour. Let this passion in sacrificing our comforts, death to our bad habits help us to invite resurrected Christ into our hearts.
