Fr Elvis Fernandes SFX –
London/Goa: After an immensely successful run of over 25 shows across Goa, Ahmedabad, and Delhi, the award-winning Tiatr “Daddy’s Home” is now set to enchant audiences in the United Kingdom. Tiatr is a popular form of Kokani drama. Penned and directed by the accomplished Fr. Milton Rodrigues, the production has already earned accolades back home, including the prestigious First Place at the Kala Academy’s A Group Tiatr Competition (2023–24).
At its core, “Daddy’s Home” is much more than a stage performance—it is a deeply moving exploration of themes that resonate universally. The story addresses the painful reality of elderly parents left neglected and children abandoned or denied care, weaving a profound narrative that parallels humanity’s search for a home on earth with the ultimate longing for a place in heaven.
Known for his socially conscious storytelling, Fr. Rodrigues has previously captivated theatre enthusiasts with impactful productions such as “Prison Ministry”, “Tum Naslo Tor”, and “I Am Sorry”. With “Daddy’s Home”, he once again challenges audiences to confront uncomfortable truths through a blend of poignant emotion, music, and drama.
The UK staging is being presented by Xavier Dias Production, with Greg Carvalho ensuring a visually compelling experience through masterful lighting design. Supporting Fr. Rodrigues is a vibrant ensemble cast featuring Derrick Dmello, Marta Dsouza, Simon Dsilva, Maricia Fernandes, John Edward Dsilva, Regina Cunha, Alecia Carter, Andrea Dias, and several other talented actors, complemented by soulful music under the direction of Lenoy Gomendes.
As the curtain prepares to rise overseas, expectations are high that “Daddy’s Home” will move audiences in the UK just as it has across India. The production stands not only as a hallmark of Goan Tiatr excellence but also as a heartfelt global reminder of love, dignity, and the universal need for belonging.
